 Mahila Utkarsh Yojana Details on making women self-reliant 44,854 women's groups have been set up so far. The target of setting up one lakh such groups is to cover one million women. To make them self-reliant, Gujarat Government has signed MoUs with 189 banks  , Loan and eligibility details of target groups



 Mahila Utkarsh Yojana


 Promotion Company Ltd.  (GLPC) and Gujarat Urban Development Mission (GULM) in urban areas.  The main objective of the scheme is to create 1 lakh Joint Responsibility Earnings and Savings Group (JLESG) and make 10 lakh women self reliant by promoting joint economic activity through these groups.


 The purpose of the scheme


 Involve women in the Joint Responsibility Earnings and Savings Group (JLESG).

 Through government banks, private banks, co-operative banks and lending institutions  1.00 lakh loan.

 Provide self-employment and livelihood through lending.



 Target beneficiary


 10 women who want to get credit.

 Women should be between 18 and 59 years of age

 Preference to widowed abandoned sisters.

 Existing group whose loan is not outstanding.

 Target: 1 Million Groups, 1 Million Women and 5 Million Family Members

 These include 50,000 groups in rural areas and 50,000 groups in urban areas.


 Total budget:


 Rs.  168.00 crore.


 Financial assistance to women's groups


 Women's groups: 1 lakh

 Women group members: 10 lakh

 Assistance Standard: Rs.  Interest Assistance Rs.

 Loan amount: Rs.  1 lakh

 Interest: As per 12%, maximum Rs.  6,000 / -

 Loan repayment: Rs.  10000 / - per annum  1,20,000 / -

 Out of which Rs.  1,00,000 loan recovery and Rs.  20,000 as savings.

 Exemption of stamp duty: Exemption of stamp duty required for bank loan.



 Lending institutions and support


 Nationalized Banks, Grameen Banks, Co-operative Banks, Private Banks, Co-operative Societies and other RBI Accredited Lending Institutions


 Support to Banks / Lending Institutions:


 Rs.4000 / - per group for recovery mechanism.

 Rs.  NPA Fund up to 4000 / -

 ➤ The main benefit that all the beneficiaries should get is the availability of interest free loan for all the self help groups of women available in the state of Gujarat.  Through this opportunity women will be able to take up their family responsibilities.  Women will be able to live their lives without worrying about their self-help groups.  Interest free loan will be given by Gujarat government and the amount of interest will be given by the state government.  All women will be able to take a loan of up to Rs 1 lakh.  Thousands of crores of rupees have been earmarked for the implementation of this scheme.
